What is a Router?

A Router is a device which transfers data from one to the other computer network, in the form of Data Packets. It   connects different networks through two or more data lines or cables. The Router reads the address information from the incoming packet and determines its destination. The information undergoes filtration through routing policy for compliance and then passed on to the next network until it reaches the ultimate destination. The Router works as a traffic controller and the intent behind using two cables in router connections is to facilitate transference of data packets ,like one-way traffic and to avoid traffic blockage. How to set up WRT54G Linksys Router?

To setup WRT54G, you need only two wires which are usually supplied color coded for hassle free connection. Simply following the given steps in the prescribed sequence shall enable you  to set up the Router:
Supply power to the router and wait for initializing after switching on. Connect with Ethernet. Plug-in, Ethernet Cable, in the back of Router. Plug one end of the second cable in any port (1-4) of router and the other end in laptop. Open browser, enter 192.168.1.1 and enter. Type ‘Admin’ both in the user name and log in. Customize Router name, save settings and when ‘successful, choose ‘wireless’ option. Customize wireless name. Disable ‘Wireless SSID’ save settings, when successful, click continues. Select wireless security, use security mode, choose WEP, select’ 128 bits 26 hex digits’ enter 6-8 digit password. Select ‘Generate Menu’ and save settings. Continue when successful. Click “Edit Mac Filter List’ and enter names of computers you want to connect. Choose ‘Administration’, customize password, confirm, save settings and continue to menu.
